Author Lisa Hutchins was born in a beautiful town with moss draped oak trees in 1955. She carries the look of her Spanish origin, but her heart and soul are pure Cajun. She cooks the famous, flavorful foods of the region, dances the two-step in the dance halls and loves the bon temps (good times) of south central Louisiana. She watched her Mother struggle to raise five children on a teacher's salary and the events within her family were difficult to endure.
