Guest Blogger Diana Murdock

On occassion, I like to introduce my readers and fans to some of my esteemed writing colleagues. Today, I am happy to introduce you to a guest blogger, Diana Murdock. Welcome to QueenWriter News, Diana. She seems to be a multi-faceted person.

Biography

Writer, reader, dreamer, cardiojunkie, mother, friend, pantster, calm, wild, lover, fighter, tree-hugger, material girl, relentless, mellow, passionate, zen master, party girl, selfless, selfish.  I am all of these.  Who I am on any given day depends on whether the sky is bright or dark with clouds, if I tripped over the dog or meditated in peace.  I cannot be contained.  I don’t like boxes and boxes don’t like me.

I asked her a few questions and here's what she had to say.

Starr Gardinier Reina (SGR): Tell our readers a little about you, if you want to mix a little personal with the business side, that would be great. Readers love to get to know authors.

Diana Murdock (DM): I’ve spent the majority of my life in California and moved to northern Idaho six years ago.  A far cry from the beaches, I know, but metaphysics and the occult are huge up here and that is where I needed to be in order to learn more. I’m a single mother with two teenage boys and when I’m not in front of the computer, I get my kicks running and traveling wherever I can. I started writing poems when I was young and short stories, but never thought to get them published. It wasn’t until three years ago that I finally got serious about my writing.

SGR: Give us a paragraph about what "Souled" is about.

DM: Seth Thompson, a junior in high school, wants much more than what he has. While shopping online for his girlfriend’s gift, he makes a purchase instead for himself, hoping that what he buys, a “Soul for Sale,” makes good on its promise – Power and Control. He gets it, all right, but by the time he realizes that darkness is consuming him, it’s too late.  This is a story of the power of love, a power that can both save and kill.

SGR: Tell your readers why you write. What inspires you? What do you get out of it?

DM: As a child I never felt like I had a voice. Choices were made for me, regardless of my preferences, so I withdrew into myself and wrote. It was a great outlet at the time and serves me well now. With so much that goes on in my life, my writing allows me some form of control and voice. As for what inspires me? People, places, energy, the stars. There is so much to this world that is often ignored. That is where I turn to for inspiration – the unseen, the unknown, and people’s reaction to it.

SGR: Where do you see yourself (literary-wise) in five years? Ten years?

DM: Writing, writing, writing. The only thing that will change is the location.
SGR: If you could meet one author who writes in your genre, who would it be and why?

DM: You know, I don’t have one in particular. Every time I lock into one, another brilliant writer catches my attention. With the indie wave, the choices are unbelievable and I fall in love with a new one every month.
Thank you, Diana, for taking the time to speak with me and sharing this little bit with our readers and fans.
